Thank you for registering your children in the CafeMI program. We have now reached the planned capacity for all the Math and Public Speaking sessions.

You are invited to the orientation session scheduled from 10:00-11:00AM on Sat. Sept 13 at the Allen Dubois Little Auditorium (Canton High School). We will review the CafeMI vision, course curriculum, policy and safety procedures. You will also get a chance to meet the teachers and organizers supporting CafeMI.

Classes will be held on Saturday. However, they will be shortened to accommodate the orientation session. The schedule is listed below:

• 9:00AM – Math and Public Speaking sessions (9AM class)
• 10:00 AM – Orientation for all sessions
• 11:00AM – Math and Public Speaking sessions (10:30AM class)
• 12:00PM – Class dismissal

Please ensure that your child attends the session for which you have registered. We look forward to seeing all of you at the orientation session. Plan to be seated in the auditorium a few minutes early so we can get started on time.

A few parents in Canton are starting a math club called Canton Academy For Excellence, MI-CAFE (a non-profit organization), to benefit students in the Canton community and surrounding areas. We plan to teach advanced math to the students in 5th to 8th grade. For interested students, we want to offer programs like public speaking skills, essay and resume writing, and more.

Many of the teachers participating in MI-CAFE are parent volunteers and have experience in teaching at the Ann Arbor Math Olympiad (AAMOC), Math Counts, AMC8, MOEMS and preparing students for other state and national level match competitions.

Attached flyer will provide additional information. If interested in MI-CAFE, please register in-person at Canton High School (Room # 127) on September 6, 2014 (Saturday) between 9 AM – 12 Noon. The classes begin on September 13, 2014 in the Canton High School. They will be held weekly (every Saturday) for an hour and half sessions.

The registration forms will be given to parents on September 6 on a first come first serve basis. Spots are limited.
